"Paul I always enjoy your thought leadership and insights in the recruitment game beyond our fair shores. You have considerable expertise in the social media space. But I don't agree with your views about this site, - and I accpet you may have…"

"I am interested that the APS have chosen to regulate to this extent. Regulation imposes costs on the economy and often has unintended consequences. E.g. So now the argument is about regulatory compliance rather advertising effectiveness. There have…"

Hi Jeremy
I'd love to catch up but the 14th is looking tight - we launch the new jobs.govt.nz website that day. I'm waiting on a confirmation of a couple of things so if you can bear with me a day or two...?

Hi Warren,

Yes, am working in Labour at the moment, pretty interesting stuff alright. I'm not so much on the recruitmetn side, more leadership and talent strategies so some interesting challenges.

I'd be interested in your views on difference between recruiting in State sector vs private though as I'm new to the public sector and see there are unique challenges in that area although I'm impressed by some of the talented people in the organisation.

Cheers

Jeff

Warren - thanks for a glimpse of the new govt jobs site - looks great - good strong branding and a launch pad for adding additional features over time -also many things can be easily Ajaxed. The only small thing I thought of (and I'm sure you have thought about also) is around the Apply Online feature - some orgs may prefer to use their own application process/forms via their own e-rec systems - the old Seek issue. I guess it is good to use a common process to put all agencies on the same level playing field.

Hi Warren - welcome aboard.

Do you know the guys at HCMS in Oz? http://www.hcms.com.au/template.asp?pg=insidejobs

Their new area of focus is in training and developing inhouse recruiters (they also recruit them as well). Earlier this week they were in Auckland running a training seminar that by all accounts went well.

Happy to make an intro if you would like.

Cheers
Simon

#atcsyd Day 2.. The Awesomeness Returned!

Man what a day.... sorry, it's late I'm writing this, but I just arrived at home. (took a few more days, went back to work, and now finished this)

But back to the start of my day...

Great start... woke up without the sound of crying (I have young children... this is a perfect start of a day!)

Then... awesome breakfast provided by the #atcsyd guys (the…

#ATCSYD OMG... Australian Talent Conference is GO!

If you're reading this and you haven't been able to attend this weeks #atcsyd (the Australasian Talent Conference in Sydney this week) there's a couple of things I'd like to say.  Well, firstly, "sucks to be you" :), secondly, I apologies for the large input on my twitter feed and thirdly, better…

Career Planning…. New Years Resolutions

For those who read my blog, you'll know I've recently changed jobs, and I've been pretty slack in posting here in the last year.  Some will say "again?" others have been congratulatory, I have to say it has been an interesting experience.  I'm 37 years old and I'm into my 5th professional job (not counting the moss farming, kitchen hand and service station attendant during University and high school).  Being the new boy again, facing those nerves of the unknown, will they like me? will I…

TRU Australia - Idea generation on crack

Last Friday, after two days of excellent workshops and presentations at the Australasian Talent Conference's annual Social Media event, I attended the inaugural The Recruiting Unconference (TRU) Australia in Melbourne. I shared a taxi to the TRU venue, the Royal Melbourne Hotel, with the founder and conference dis-organiser of TRU, Bill…
