Profile Information

Hometown:
Beverly Hills
About Me:
Front-end recruiter (candidate development and screening, research, sourcing); career coach; OD consultant.

My law was and is my first love and where I should have stayed. Thus, my leanings toward the ethical nature of things, definitions, and standards.

I'm known as the solutions person and been called visionary. I'll accept the first title. As to the second, it's just that it looked like a logical step and no one told me it couldn't be done (or else, I didn't hear them).
Areas of interest in recruitment:
screening,
ethics
standards,
contracts,
fees,
negotiations
relationship building,

there are probably more that are specific issues, but this provides a snapshot.

Does this mean I need to start wearing chartreuse green? I can do that! In fact, I LOVE nature.

Don't tell them that Ethics in Recruiting has a goal of examining the global recruiting practices to see if we can come to a unified code of conduct. Don't tell them that I crave cultural awareness and acceptance. If they don't get it, they don't need to know. It'll be our secret.

Yes, cross sourcing and recruiting is definitely a benefit here.

I'll probably be very quiet for a while as I learn the perspectives.

Hi Viva - it's good to have someone from 90210 as part of the group. I can hear some current members thinking, this is purely a group for kiwis. Of course the group will always be made up of a bulk of NZ professionals. As a member of your Recruitment Ethics Ning group I think we both see opportunities to look outside one's country and learn from other approaches and experiences elsewhere - and for some there could be an opportunity to tap into each others talent pools :-)

#atcsyd Day 2.. The Awesomeness Returned!

Man what a day.... sorry, it's late I'm writing this, but I just arrived at home. (took a few more days, went back to work, and now finished this)

But back to the start of my day...

Great start... woke up without the sound of crying (I have young children... this is a perfect start of a day!)

Then... awesome breakfast provided by the #atcsyd guys (the…

If you're reading this and you haven't been able to attend this weeks #atcsyd (the Australasian Talent Conference in Sydney this week) there's a couple of things I'd like to say.  Well, firstly, "sucks to be you" :), secondly, I apologies for the large input on my twitter feed and thirdly, better…

Career Planning…. New Years Resolutions

For those who read my blog, you'll know I've recently changed jobs, and I've been pretty slack in posting here in the last year.  Some will say "again?" others have been congratulatory, I have to say it has been an interesting experience.  I'm 37 years old and I'm into my 5th professional job (not counting the moss farming, kitchen hand and service station attendant during University and high school).  Being the new boy again, facing those nerves of the unknown, will they like me? will I…

TRU Australia - Idea generation on crack

Last Friday, after two days of excellent workshops and presentations at the Australasian Talent Conference's annual Social Media event, I attended the inaugural The Recruiting Unconference (TRU) Australia in Melbourne. I shared a taxi to the TRU venue, the Royal Melbourne Hotel, with the founder and conference dis-organiser of TRU, Bill…
