About Me:
I have accrued over 5 years of experience working across a range of sectors. Beginning my career in the Building Services sector specialising with Mechanical & Electrical design engineers, my remit then expanded into a more industrial approach which included M&E engineers for the Power & Water sector, also EPCM type companies working in the Mining sector that had a requirement for skilled and experienced M&E Design Engineers.

The Building Services sector (Consulting) was a natural springboard into Architecture which helped further bring together an understanding of the building process, the initial concept and vision through to the final product having been completed, built and then delivered to the client.

Since then, for the past couple of years. I have maintained a healthy enthusiasm for the above areas, each different in their own way but offering great opportunity for development here in Australia and throughout the region.

I have since started a new business focused upon a consultative approach to the staffing industry, moving away from the mainstream recruitment agency services and offering a suite of practical solutions to the client and jobseeker alike.
Areas of interest in recruitment:
Basic ideas storming, ethics & principles, moving away from a sales environment to a consultative environment, driving fundamental change in the perception of recruiters and the industry, technologies for recruiting, what's happening next in the industry and what I'd actually like to see or explore a body for recruitment with compulsory registration and registration numbers and the clients pushing to only utilise recruiters who are registered and can be as such held accountable or warned for poor conduct ... it's a thought process but I think that there's some substance to its value.

#atcsyd Day 2.. The Awesomeness Returned!

Man what a day.... sorry, it's late I'm writing this, but I just arrived at home. (took a few more days, went back to work, and now finished this)

But back to the start of my day...

Great start... woke up without the sound of crying (I have young children... this is a perfect start of a day!)

Then... awesome breakfast provided by the #atcsyd guys (the…

#ATCSYD OMG... Australian Talent Conference is GO!

If you're reading this and you haven't been able to attend this weeks #atcsyd (the Australasian Talent Conference in Sydney this week) there's a couple of things I'd like to say.  Well, firstly, "sucks to be you" :), secondly, I apologies for the large input on my twitter feed and thirdly, better…

Career Planning…. New Years Resolutions

For those who read my blog, you'll know I've recently changed jobs, and I've been pretty slack in posting here in the last year.  Some will say "again?" others have been congratulatory, I have to say it has been an interesting experience.  I'm 37 years old and I'm into my 5th professional job (not counting the moss farming, kitchen hand and service station attendant during University and high school).  Being the new boy again, facing those nerves of the unknown, will they like me? will I…

TRU Australia - Idea generation on crack

Last Friday, after two days of excellent workshops and presentations at the Australasian Talent Conference's annual Social Media event, I attended the inaugural The Recruiting Unconference (TRU) Australia in Melbourne. I shared a taxi to the TRU venue, the Royal Melbourne Hotel, with the founder and conference dis-organiser of TRU, Bill…
