Recruitment Asia Pacific

Happy New Year everyone.

In an effort to improve the candidate experience on jobs.govt.nz we have issued an RFI (Request for Information) for enhancements to the State sector job board jobs.govt.nz, specifically looking at options for candidate registration.
If this is of interest to you the document is available on the Government tenders website until the end of Jan.

In addition, as the website has been around a while, we are running a user survey (primarily aimed at job seekers rather than advertisers but anyone can take part). If you have used the site and have an opinion on it please give us your views.

This could be the perfect chance for a govt careers site to show off web2.0 and social recruiting.

AU govt released http://apsjobs.gov.au/ last year, but most states have their own careers portal anyhow. Its a pity they are not all together. http://careers.vic.gov.au/
Also, no offense to anyone at http://www.localgovernmentcareers.govt.nz/ but its pretty crap. (yes i have an interest in localcounciljobs.com)
thanks for the feedback. no offense taken thomas. (and if you want to give more feedback...email me!)

we have started working on some enhancements on the website which will hopefully improve the site navigation and overall layout of the site. the basic functionalities of a good job board is there, but we need to do more tweaking at the back end.

the aim of this website is quite different from the localcounciljobs.com. our aims are to first raise the profile of the sector as we know that local government suffers from not so good image and second is to provide a portal for jobseekers for all council jobs in NZ.

And Warren, good luck on your project, let me know if you need any more information from us.
Thanks Janice. Keep up the good work ;-)
"pretty crap" is pretty strong. Just in what ways is it pretty crap?
The only thing that seems off about that site to me is "To find out more about what people do click on the following case studies" small font size and the menu underneath the text. Otherwise it is a usable and functional website - does it comply with nz govt web standards?
somehow i have hijacked this thread... but..nearly all traffic will enter via the front page, it is missing many job board items such as - quick search on main page, multi browser compliant, overall the site lacks seo, search engine results are poor http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en&q=site%3Alocalgovernmentca... job search pops up in new window... etc...

I would assume a high "bounce rate" as it takes a number of clicks to view/apply to a job..users would just leave and go somewhere else.

cant really go into anything else as under restraint of trade with the recent sale of localcounciljobs http://www.recruitmentdirectory.com.au/Blog/recruitment-directory-s...

#atcsyd Day 2.. The Awesomeness Returned!

Man what a day.... sorry, it's late I'm writing this, but I just arrived at home. (took a few more days, went back to work, and now finished this)

But back to the start of my day...

Great start... woke up without the sound of crying (I have young children... this is a perfect start of a day!)

Then... awesome breakfast provided by the #atcsyd guys (the…

#ATCSYD OMG... Australian Talent Conference is GO!

If you're reading this and you haven't been able to attend this weeks #atcsyd (the Australasian Talent Conference in Sydney this week) there's a couple of things I'd like to say.  Well, firstly, "sucks to be you" :), secondly, I apologies for the large input on my twitter feed and thirdly, better…

Career Planning…. New Years Resolutions

For those who read my blog, you'll know I've recently changed jobs, and I've been pretty slack in posting here in the last year.  Some will say "again?" others have been congratulatory, I have to say it has been an interesting experience.  I'm 37 years old and I'm into my 5th professional job (not counting the moss farming, kitchen hand and service station attendant during University and high school).  Being the new boy again, facing those nerves of the unknown, will they like me? will I…

TRU Australia - Idea generation on crack

Last Friday, after two days of excellent workshops and presentations at the Australasian Talent Conference's annual Social Media event, I attended the inaugural The Recruiting Unconference (TRU) Australia in Melbourne. I shared a taxi to the TRU venue, the Royal Melbourne Hotel, with the founder and conference dis-organiser of TRU, Bill…
